How It All Got Started

Charlotte Ball (fondly known as Charlie) says she has always possessed a natural talent for bringing people together.

Her innate ability to connect friends and family blossomed into a passion for matchmaking - and one match in particular made her think about turning it into a full-time profession.

It all began when Ball played cupid for a friend who happened to be a professional matchmaker herself. Thanks to Ball's skills, her friend found lasting love and is now happily married. 

In 2023, with a little help from her friend Bronte Upchurch, Ball took the leap and launched Bond The Agency. According to Ball, 

“I wanted to create a matchmaking company that really focused on going the extra mile for whatever our clients need.”

Before establishing her own venture, Ball honed her skills as a matchmaker at another London-based firm - Drawing Down The Moon. 

Becoming A Bond Client 

The process begins with a rigorous vetting designed to weed out those who may not be genuinely committed to finding a relationship. As the Bond team shared, 

"Dating is time-consuming. If we had someone on our books who wasn't serious — what a waste of time that is [for clients]. It's damaging for them. We would never accept someone if we thought we couldn’t help them.” 

Once you pass the initial screening, you’re invited to Bond's headquarters for an in-depth consultation. 

During this meeting, the team delves into various aspects of your life, including your family, career, childhood, dating history, and any deal-breakers.  

After the consultation, and assuming you decide to sign up, you can typically expect to receive 5 hand-picked introductions. You’ll be shown photos and bios of each suggested match. As Ball explained, 

“We support you along the way, showing photos prior to any introduction and meeting every potential member in person as we believe you need to meet to get a good sense about someone.”

You have the option to reject one of your matches, but as the website mentions the Bond team asks that you trust their expertise and process.  

When it comes to arranging the first date, Bond expects the gentleman to ask the match out on a date. The team will make suggestions on where to go and make reservations. After each date, you’ll have a call to let them know how things went. 

Throughout the process, Bond leverages various resources from upscale bars and restaurants to social media platforms to identify potential matches. They even reach out to people through direct messages on Instagram if they think they’d be a good fit for someone.  

How Bond The Agency Compares When It Comes To Cost

Like many matchmaking companies, Bond The Agency doesn't publicly disclose their membership fees.

However, some sources suggest their packages start around £10,000 and go up from there. To get an idea of what to expect, let’s take a look at what some other UK matchmakers who should be on your radar charge!

Enamour, for instance, is a white-glove service catering exclusively to accomplished and selective singles. 

Matchmaking packages start around $20,000 for a 6-month search. Enamour sources matches from an "invite-only" database, as well as through recruiting technology and an extensive network of scouts, drawing from both online and offline sources.

Much like Enamour, London-based Berkeley International works with “high-net-worth” clients. This matchmaking firm is helmed by Mairead Molloy, and they take on clients from select cities around the world. 

Packages start around around £15,000 for a year's worth of service.

Drawing Down The Moon, where Ball once worked, is another option worth considering. Client reviews mention paying around £10,000 or more for membership packages.

One of London’s longest-running services, DDTM was launched in 1984 by Mary Balfour. It’s currently run by matchmaker Gillian McCallum, who came on board in 2016.
