A Peek At Tregobov’s Matchmaking Process

Lianne Tregobov founded Camelot Introductions in 1994, making her one of Manitoba’s most experienced matchmakers.
The service is headquartered in Winnipeg, and most of her clientele are in Manitoba and Saskatchewan. According to Tregobov, more than half of them are baby boomers between 51 and 70 years old who are ready to be in a long-term relationship again.
As she told CBC News:
“They come to me. They don’t know how to date anymore. Times have changed and definitely they’ve had wonderful relationships… and they want another wonderful relationship.”
Tregobov says she often sees more single women in this age range. The reason? “Men have a tendency to pass away sooner than women so we have an abundance of amazing women who are looking for guys.”
She’s observed a trend in this demographic, where women “follow obituaries or pre-plan knowing that a fellow is losing his spouse and then makes herself available, feeds him, knocks on his door with casseroles and often is trying to find her place.”
She refers to these women as “casserole ladies” and has found that men in this situation often jump into another relationship quickly to avoid the pain of having lost their partner - rather than allowing themselves to grieve.
But when it comes to dating at any age, Tregobov believes love isn’t something that can be rushed. As she explained in an interview, matchmaking isn’t about speed, it’s about precision.
“It's really important for people to go slow. In our instant gratification world, we want everything now. People have blinders on when you're rushing. You want to just take your time, trust in the process, and enjoy meeting the right person and getting to know them.”
Becoming A Camelot Introductions Client

Potential clients are prescreened, as Tregobov and her team are selective about who they choose to work with. For instance, they do criminal record checks and decline to represent smokers.
“I’m very particular. I have to have the right people. It has to be the right connection.”
If you’re interested in working with Camelot Introductions, the first step is the initial screening call. You’ll chat about what types of matches you want to meet and other expectations.
You’ll also be given a list of questions to answer before your matchmaking interview, if you decide to move forward with the service.
As a client, you can choose from two types of service: the Standard Match Process and the Prestige Match Process.
The Standard Match Process
If you opt for this package, you’ll be meeting singles sourced from the Camelot Introductions database.
As she shared with CTV News,
“As a matchmaker I meet each person, vet their profile and do a criminal background check before I confirm the potential for a match.”
Like most traditional matchmakers, Tregobov relies on her intuition when selecting candidates for clients to meet.
“I’m gifted with a very, very keen intuition that has enabled me to match thousands of people over the last almost three decades which is amazing.”
Whenever a potential match is identified, Tregobov will call you to read their profile. If there’s mutual interest in getting to know each other, Tregobov will exchange your phone numbers.
She asks that you call your match within 24 hours, and after talking the two of you can then decide if you want to meet in person. Each face-to-face meeting is considered an “introduction”.
As a Standard Match Process client, you can receive an unlimited number of phone calls but only 5 introductions. As she shared in an interview,
“Most couples find a good match within three face-to-face meetings.”
The Prestige Match Process
The other membership option, the Prestige Match Process, also includes scouting outside of the database for potential matches as well as dating coaching.
The targeting recruiting efforts include what she calls an advertising campaign. The search process can continue for up to one year.
Because it’s a more labor intensive search that expands outside the database, Tregobov limits the number of Prestige clients she works with at a time.
How Much Does Camelot Introductions Cost?
The Standard Match Process membership starts at $1,260, and the Prestige Match Process membership starts at $10,500.

Is Camelot Introductions The Right Matchmaker For You?
When it comes to making an investment in any matchmaking service, there are several key considerations. Budget, of course, is a big factor. But so is where the matches you’ll be meeting come from.
Traditional matchmakers often pull from an internal database, matching clients with other clients and those who have submitted a profile to be considered as potential matches.
And some services, like Camelot Introductions and Enamour, proactively scout for candidates outside the database as well, although you’ll pay a premium price for that level of service.
But that’s worth factoring in to your hiring decision, because it’s difficult for any matchmaker out there to make consistently high-quality matches in one area from within a limited database.
That’s because of how compatibility works. You need to be looking for someone just like your match - and they need to be looking for someone just like you. The bigger the dating pool, the better the odds of making pairings where compatibility aligns on both sides.
That’s why VIDA Select takes a modern approach to matchmaking that leverages the largest source of Prairie singles there is. You’ll go on first dates confident that your match checks all your boxes, and they’re excited to meet you, too.
On average, VIDA clients meet someone special within just 3 months of beginning service. If you’re ready for a relationship, why not take a minute and see how VIDA can change your life?
