JSwipe
One of the oldest Jewish dating apps, JSwipe launched back in 2014. It was originally founded by David Yarus but has since been acquired by Spark Networks, the parent company of JDate.
Who Uses JSwipe?
JSwipe’s original target market was Jewish millennials, and the app is still most popular with younger Jewish singles. That being said, it’s also becoming more popular with daters in their late 30s and up.
While it has a more casual vibe than JWed, you’ll likely find most users are looking for something on the serious end of the relationship spectrum.
Being Jewish isn’t a requirement to join, but Jewish dating is the focus of the app. There’s an option for “willing to convert” and “other” in the denomination list.

JSwipe Pros & Cons
Pros
- Available in 70+ countries with users typically concentrated in larger cities or in areas with growing Jewish populations.
- Ability to filter matches by distance, age, gender, denomination and Kosher or not Kosher.
- You can use it for free.
Cons
- Matches expire in 18 days.
- Smaller user pool than you’ll find on apps like Match, Bumble and Hinge.
- Like most dating apps, profiles contain limited information about your potential match.
JSwipe is one of the more well-known Jewish dating apps. If you’re dating in a large city, it’s worth the download to take a peek at who’s using it in your area.
JSwipe Cost
It’s free to download and use JSwipe. This Jewish dating app also offers a premium subscription called “First Class”. First Class includes handy perks like a popularity-based feed called “Most Eligible.”
Premium users are also exempt from the right swipe limit, can change their location within the app, and see who likes them, and more.
A First Class subscription on JSwipe starts at $24.99 for one month.

You can download the JSwipe app from the App Store or Google Play.

Lox Club
Launched by Austin Kevitch in 2020, the Lox Club dating app is often referred to as “The Jewish Raya” because of its rigorous screening process.
Who Uses Lox Club?
Members are between the ages of 21 and 70, but Lox Club is most popular with Jewish singles in their late-20s to mid-30s. You don’t have to be culturally Jewish to use Lox Club, but be prepared to explain why you’re interested in using a Jewish dating app during the application process.
Like Raya and The League, Lox Club has an acceptance committee. Applying to join this exclusive app often involves being put on the waiting list while your profile is evaluated. The wait time for Lox Club approval is typically around 1 to 2 weeks, but it could take even longer.
A relative newcomer to the world of Jewish dating apps, Lox Club has not yet launched nationwide.
It’s currently available in 9 major cities across the US, including: NYC, San Francisco, Boston, LA, Miami, Austin, Philadelphia, DC and Chicago. More cities will be added soon.
Lox Club Pros & Cons
Pros
- The app’s membership screening helps weed out people who aren’t serious about finding a relationship.
- Access to an on-staff Jewish matchmaker.
- Geared towards finding serious relationships.
- Accounts can be suspended for inactivity, which promotes user engagement.
Cons
- The app isn’t widely available.
- No distance filter. The Lox Club algorithm prioritizes showing you profiles of users near you, but being shown profiles who are far outside of a realistic “dating range” is one of this app's biggest user complaints.
- Limited swipes. Users are restricted to viewing between 5 and 12 profiles every 6 hours.
- The app does not make it clear what constitutes inactivity, so depending on how often you log in you may find yourself suspended.
- A paid subscription is required, and there is no single month option. (More on cost coming right up!)
If you’re under 40, in one of the Lox Club’s cities, and interested in meeting Jewish singles, Lox Club could be a good app to try.
Lox Club Cost
Users are required to pay for a subscription upon acceptance. Lox Club offers a 3, 6, or 12-month membership.

$60 for 6 months |

If you want to see more than your daily allotment of profiles, you can purchase a few more views via the “Skip The Wait” feature.
You can download the Lox Club app from the App Store or Google Play.

JDate
Founded in 1997, JDate is one of the oldest Jewish dating sites. It’s in the Spark Networks portfolio, along with other niche dating sites like Elite Singles.
Who Uses JDate?
Putting a modern twist on Jewish matchmaking, JDate aims to bring together singles who share the same faith and values. While the brand is almost synonymous with Jewish dating, JDate users tend to be in their late 30s and up, with younger Jewish singles gravitating more to apps like JSwipe.
While it’s not a strict rule that all users be Jewish, it is the general expectation. If you’re not Jewish, you’re better off using a platform like Match.com.
JDate Pros & Cons
Pros
- Advanced search filters. Users can specify who they are looking for based on religious affiliation, synagogue attendance, etc.
- You can take a personality test. JDate’s compatibility quizzes and Match % compatibility calculation help you find matches who share similar interests and values based on your answers.
- Features like “Secret Admirer” and “LookBook” allow for anonymous browsing.
- Free trial available.
- Uploading at least one photo is required to use the site, and photos are screened for objectionable content.
Cons
- Limited database. As with any niche dating app, the dating pool isn’t as expansive as a mainstream dating site or app.
- While it is one of the oldest Jewish dating platforms, many sources around the web say it’s not as popular as it used to be.
- Fewer advanced features compared to some other dating platforms.
- Paid subscription is needed to access most features, including messaging.
If you’re in your 40s+ or living in a more rural area, JDate is worth signing up to see if you spot anyone intriguing.
JDate Cost
Signing up and creating your JDate account is free, so you can look around and search for other users before investing in a subscription.
But free users are limited in what they can do. If you want to send, read and reply to all members, view all the photos in a profile, hide your profile, and other perks, you’ll need to pay.
JDate costs $59.99 for a single month, with the price coming down when you purchase a longer membership.

$59.99 for 1 month |
$44.99/month for 3 months |

You can use JDate online, or download the companion dating app for iOS or Android.

JWed
Founded in 2001, JWed claims to offer the largest network of marriage-minded Jewish singles. When it first launched, it was originally named “Frumster.”
Who Uses JWed?
As the website proclaims, JWed is only for Jewish singles. This dating site has 3 criteria for members: You need to be authentically Jewish (which it defines as “from mother’s side or completed conversion), legally single, and genuinely interested in marriage.
JWed’s dating site advises they actively monitor profiles to ensure users meet those criteria. This includes an automated system designed to minimize fraudulent activities and flag inappropriate content.
The site is most popular with Jewish singles in their 30s and 40s, although you’ll find users of all ages on it.
JWed Pros & Cons
Pros
- Profiles are more detailed compared to other platforms.
- JWed’s algorithm delivers customized match suggestions.
- Users can filter results with advanced search options.
- It’s available on both desktop and mobile devices.
Cons
- Some sources estimate there are only 10,000 active users at any given time.
- It’s geared towards marriage, so if you’re looking for something more casual stick with JSwipe.
- No free membership (but there is a free trial to test it out!)
JWed Costs
During JWed’s free trial period, you can create a profile, browse potential matches, and even send messages. However if you want to continue using this Jewish dating site when the trial ends, you’ll need to purchase a subscription.
A Basic subscription costs $12.95/month, and a Premium subscription costs between $24.95 and $29.95/month.
A Basic subscription makes your profile visible to other members, and you search for profiles and view photos. But when it comes to messaging, you can only reply to messages sent to you.
If you want to initiate contact with other members, you’ll need the Premium membership. That level also unlocks other perks, like read receipts, anonymous browsing, seeing who liked you, and more.
Keep an eye out for discounts and promotions, which JWed occasionally runs.

Have Another Jewish Dating Site Or App In Mind?
You may have another option in mind, like Loop, JewishCafe and Forj. But keep in mind with any niche dating apps, whether faith-based or centered around another type of commonality like vegans or digital nomads, the user pools are much, much smaller.
That generally means it will take longer to find singles you’re interested in. And that’s only half the battle - those singles also have to be interested in you.
Compatibility is a two-way street, so the more potential matches you have access to, the higher the odds of finding that mutual compatibility.
For that reason, we suggest you supplement the search for your bashert with at least one mainstream dating site or app as well.
VIDA Select’s team of dating experts have logged tens of thousands of hours on dating apps and sites, so we know how important it is to choose which platforms you use strategically.
If you’re 35+ years old, Match.com is a solid choice. It’s not specifically for Jewish dating, but it is one of most popular dating sites out there so the potential match pool is huge.
It’s easy to screen for Jewish singles on Match - just check the box for “Jewish” in the “Religion” section of the match preferences.
Then use the toggle at the top of the menu to make it a dealbreaker. Now you’ll only see potential matches who are Jewish.
For Jewish daters in their 20s and early 30s, apps like Hinge and Bumble are great choices. Both attract singles who are looking for serious relationships, and both make it easy to screen for a shared faith.
Like Match, Hinge allows you to specify “Jewish” as a dealbreaker. It’s one of Hinge’s basic dating preferences, so it’s available to free members. No premium subscription required!
Bumble also has a religion filter, but it’s considered an “Advanced Filter.” That means it’s behind a paywall, and you’ll need a Bumble Premium membership to unlock it.
The advantage of using Match, Bumble or Hinge to find Jewish singles is you’re pulling potential matches from a much bigger dating pool. The religion filter will help you screen for compatibility, but you’ll have to do a little digging during the message exchange if you’re seeking a particular affiliation, such as Orthodox.
