“I was actually matching people back in my teenage years. When everyone was worrying about their teenage crush and high school drama – I was focused on why people were breaking up and how I can help fix that!”

Born in Ukraine and raised in Latvia, Bendis migrated with her family to California in 1989. She launched Match by Julia 2 decades later in 2009.

How Match By Julia Works 

Match by Julia works with both men and women as paying clients, offering matchmaking services to singles in LA, Orange County, and San Diego.

As she shared in an interview, she only takes on clients if she feels she can truly match them with someone.

“As a Matchmaker, I will not take on a client if I don’t think I can help them. I can’t sleep at night knowing someone paid money but I don’t have anyone to match them with.”

Bendis upholds honesty as a key component of her matchmaking process. She firmly believes in promoting personal growth through truthfulness.

Her approach to matchmaking is highly tailored. After she feels like she has a good understanding of a client’s needs, wants, and desires, she’ll use these insights to select compatible matches from her database. 

Clients are also matched with other clients, or with candidates identified via her matchmaking network.

Matchmaking memberships include some “guidance” and coaching, and also feedback after each introduction. If you purchase a 3 or 6-month membership, you’ll have a professional photography session for your database profile.

If you're interested in becoming a client that process starts by filling out a membership form on the website. You'll provide detailed information about yourself, such as your religious preferences, political beliefs, and what you're looking for in an ideal partner.

After submitting the form you'll receive an invitation to schedule a consultation call. This call costs $175 and must be purchased before scheduling it. The fee is non-refundable, but it will be applied towards most memberships if you decide to move forward with a contract.

During the call, Bendis learns more about you and makes a suggestion on which membership she feels best suits your needs.  

In addition to matchmaking, Bendis offers dating coaching, dating profile creation, and professional photography.  She also coordinates relationship support groups.
