Your intro has two jobs: grab her attention and make her want to keep reading. If it fails at either, she's already moved on.

If you fail to do either of those two things, she’s instantly moving on to the next guy.

 

But if she likes what she’s seeing, she’ll keep reading - and more importantly, she’ll be way more likely to respond to your message.

Open with an exciting travel story or a humorous anecdote that hints at your personality. The example above does this well.

Within the first line, she's already imagining a tropical vacation with you. By the end of the paragraph, she's learned you're adventurous, physically active, love to travel, and financially stable. All without you having to write a single one of those words.

Show, don’t tell.

That brings us to the golden rule of profile writing: show, don't tell. Lists of adjectives ("I'm adventurous, loyal, and fun-loving") are an instant snooze. 

Tell her a story that illustrates those qualities, and she's far more likely to believe — and be attracted by — them. Trust builds attraction.

She wants to know what you do, especially if she's looking for something serious. If you work in healthcare, education, engineering, marketing, or tech, you're in luck: those rank among the most-matched professions on dating apps. For everyone else, it just takes a little creativity.

Don't just say "I work in [blank]." That's boring and vague. Instead, find the part of your work you're genuinely proud of and lead with that.

In a profile example that works, a general contractor doesn't just say what he does. He mentions watching vacant lots turn into shiny new homes. That emotional detail is what makes her connect with it.

The more positive feelings you can inspire, the higher the likelihood she says yes to a date.

One hard rule: never mention anything negative about your job. Long hours, stress, or how much you hate it are instant turn-offs.

Give her a glimpse of what being with you would actually look like. You're active, social, and fulfilled, you just happen to be looking for someone to join in. Mention your hobbies, your favorite weekend activities, what you do with friends.

Always stay positive here. This is not the place to unpack baggage from past relationships or hint at how lonely you've been.

You've introduced yourself. Now describe your ideal match — and don't be vague about it.

Having high standards signals confidence, which is attractive. On the flip side, being so open-ended that you're essentially saying "I'll date anyone" reads as insecure.

End this paragraph with a call to action that tells her exactly what you want her to do next. Something like "Message me and let's talk" or "Think you've got what it takes? Send me a message and I'll take it from there." It sounds simple, but it works.
