Founded in 2009, Something More is the brainchild of Austin matchmaker Julia McCurley. After spending years in high-tech recruiting and business development, McCurley decided to  transfer her skills into the world of matchmaking. 

Like many professional matchmakers, she’d been playing cupid for family and friends for most of her life. She’s passionate about helping singles achieve their relationship goals, which is how Something More got its name.  As she shared in an interview with Global Love Report: 

“I truly believe that single people deserve something more than spending hours swiping, going to bars, hoping they're forever plus one will bump into their cart at the grocery store, etc.”

Something More is headquartered in Austin, but her service helps singles throughout Texas.

Something More Matchmaking Process

McCurley’s process is similar to most matchmaking services: after an interview where you describe your ideal partner preferences, relationship history, etc, McCurley and her team will identify compatible matches.

As a boutique matchmaking service, McCurley limits the number of clients they take on at any given time. Typically it’s between 50 and 70, and McCurley herself only works with a handful directly.

You’ll be meeting other clients or singles sourced from McCurley’s social network. Potential matches are interviewed to determine compatibility before being presented to you for consideration.

McCurley says that there’s an ‘art’ to matchmaking. As she puts it, 

It’s not a science, it’s an art. You have to think about the soft skills that don’t show up on paper. All these little things — like money, travel, diet, and temperament — affect compatibility.

You'll receive specifics about each potential match's personality, lifestyle, shared values, and more, along with photos. 

Something More arranges the dates, and contact information is exchanged when both you and your match express interest in a second date.

After each date, you can provide feedback about the experience. You’ll receive any post-date feedback from your match’s perspective as well.

Can Julia McCurley Find You Something More?

For instance, McCurley’s service offers 6, 9 and 12 month contracts, and you’ll most likely pay the $11,000 to $27,000 package price up front. Payment in full is the industry standard, although some services also allow you to commit to an installment plan.
