Michelle Frankel was an attorney in Washington, D.C. before deciding to switch careers. As she explained in an interview, she felt unfulfilled by her demanding role in the Mergers & Acquisitions practice at a prominent firm, and realized she needed a change of environment.

I was practicing in Washington D.C., but after a broken engagement, I started reprioritizing my life. I was 37, and I wanted to find a life partner.

I like merging people more than I liked merging companies. I traded in the law for love, and 10 years later, here I am.

Michelle Frankel’s Matchmaking Philosophy

As most matchmakers do, Frankel’s process begins with digging into who you are and what qualities you’re looking for in a potential match.

Frankel explains it this way: 

We get into compatibility — both physically and otherwise. What we’re searching for here is chemistry and compatibility: emotional, spiritual, and physical. Do they want to take the same types of vacations? Are they a spender or a saver? We dig into the things that can cause friction in relationships.

NYCity Matchmaking works with both men and women as paying clients but takes a slightly different approach for guys. As she explained in an interview, the matchmaking process for men is a bit more complex: 

With men, there typically has to be physical attraction off the bat. A client can tell us who they are attracted to, but finding qualities to fulfill long-term compatibility is much more complicated. We really take the time to ask and answer the question, “What makes you happy?” for each client. 

She said she encourages clients to let go of the reins and not try to control the process.

Frankel reminds them that while they may have achieved success in some areas of their lives, they have a higher probability of finding love if they let go of their ‘must haves’ checklist. 

I manage expectations by getting people to let go of their criteria and persuade them into keeping an open mind. Whether it’s finding your perfect mate or anything else in life, if you keep an open mind and have an open approach, something good is bound to happen.

And when it comes to where she finds those potential matches, her search starts with her NYCity Matchmaking database. She’s also affiliated with a network of matchmakers, and her team also does some offline recruiting depending on your service package.

How Much Does It Cost To Hire Michelle Frankel?

There are two ways to join the NYC Matchmaking database, as a free member or purchasing a Premier membership. The Premier membership requires a consultation, which costs $475 if it’s in person, or $350 via phone/video call. 

As a premier member, you receive priority when it comes to being matched with paying clients.

Consultations are also required for all matchmaking packages. The price of the package varies based on several factors, such as your search criteria, geographical location, and any additional services that may be required to find you a successful match.
