Before entering the world of professional matchmaking, Lori Zaslow worked in recruiting for over a decade, primarily in the fashion and retail industries. 

As she revealed in a podcast, Zaslow has always loved bringing people together:

“I just love connecting people. My background was helping people find jobs, and I love to connect people no matter what it is.”

Her childhood friend, Jennifer Zucher, shares her passion for helping others find meaningful relationships. As Zaslow explained in an interview with Forbes, matchmaking is an innate talent for both of them:

"It’s a sixth sense. You either have the gift to connect people or you don’t, and once you have done it enough, just like anything else, you become an expert. Both Jenn and I have set up our brothers with their wives and plenty of our close friends with their husbands before we began Project Soulmate."

When both Zucher and Zaslow found themselves in need of a change, they launched Project Soulmate in 2009. 

In 2012, Zaslow appeared in a single season of a Bravo reality show called “Love Broker.” The show followed Zaslow as she searched for perfect matches for her clients. 

According to Zaslow, Love Broker helped put Project Soulmate on the map for NYC singles.

“Before BRAVO approached us about being on a reality show, we were self-marketing and our company was solely based on referrals, but ever since ‘Love Broker’, our business has drastically increased. After our show we were able to expand Project Soulmate as a company and brand through landing talk shows like ‘Katie Couric, and the ‘Today Show’.”

How Project Soulmate Works

Headquartered at 750 Lexington Ave 9th floor in New York, Project Soulmate typically helps local singles meet someone special. But the service is also open to people from other areas, as long as they’re willing to relocate or travel to NYC.

Zaslow says they don’t try to sell the business “as a way to get married,” as that’s not necessarily the goal of her clients. In her words:

“We are helping people get into relationships. We are not selling marriage, most don’t last. We are not selling people an unrealistic expectation.”

On the Hello & Goodbye podcast, Zaslow said that their clients are healthy, mentally sane, and looking for that long-term serious relationship.

As a boutique matchmaker, Zaslow only works with a limited number of clients at any given time. According to her, 

“A lot of people are referrals. We don’t just take random people that email us because they saw us on the Today Show and they’re single… so we get to know people well.”

Paying clients are matched with compatible singles from the Project Soulmate database. Having a profile included within that database is free, however there is no guarantee of ever being matched with anyone.

Janis Spindel's Serious Matchmaking is another NYC millionaire matchmaking service that may be on your radar. Like Enamour, Spindel and her daughter Carly Spindel offer local, national, and international searches. 

Serious Matchmaking costs between $25,000 and $350,000 to work with Carly, or $50,000 to $1,000,000 to work with Janis. Contracts last for 1 year.
