Trying to narrow down the best dating sites for location-independent singles? It’s no wonder you’re checking out Nomad Soulmates reviews.
Nomad Soulmates was started by co-founders Aline Dahmen and Sebastien Pelletier as a way to combat the loneliness that singles with the freedom to work from anywhere often experience.
As Dahmen explained in an interview,
“Loneliness is the number one struggle most nomads encounter as they travel the globe.”
With the rise in popularity of remote work, there is no shortage of dating platforms that cater to digital nomads. So is Nomad Soulmates your best bet?
In this review, we’ll cover everything you need to know about this dating site for digital nomads, including what it costs, its pros and cons, and more.

A Quick Overview: Pros, Cons, & Verdict
Nomad Soulmates is a niche dating platform. That means it caters to a very specific user base: single remote workers & digital nomads.
As Dahmen shared in an interview,
“Nomad Soulmates was born out of my conversations with nomadic friends, who were frustrated with short-term flings and nothing really serious. So I set out to build a community for people who have the desire for real, meaningful relationships.”
The platform was originally created as a Facebook group for digital nomads and remote workers to connect with others who share the same lifestyle. It later evolved into a website and most recently a dating app.
And access to that like-minded community is the biggest advantage of using Nomad Soulmates - you’ll only be interacting with people who “get” you and your lifestyle.
The biggest disadvantage of using Nomad Soulmates? The dating pool is much, much smaller than what you’d find on mainstream dating sites and apps.
According to their website, there are “over 5000” users on the app, and around 23,000 members in the Facebook group - and that’s worldwide. Pretty miniscule compared to the numbers you’ll find on platforms like Match, Hinge, Bumble, and Tinder.
That means it could take a long time to find people you’re interested in who are also looking for someone like you - or it might never happen at all.
Let’s take a closer look at some more pros & cons of using Nomad Soulmates:
PROS:
- It’s not just a dating app, it’s a community. As Dahmen explained, “We believe that our core strength lies in bringing people together for deep meaningful long-term connections whether they are romantic relationships or friendships. We do this by focusing on the quality of the relationships built vs quantity.”
- You can access Nomad Soulmates online, via the app, and by joining the Facebook group.
- It’s free for now. The website teases an “exclusive membership” that will include video introductions and daily activities, but it hasn’t been launched yet.
- Profiles are reviewed and the Facebook group is private and moderated, so that cuts down on some of the questionable behavior you might find on dating apps like Tinder.
CONS:
- Since it’s not a mainstream dating platform and also has a community aspect, you’ll find people looking for both platonic and romantic relationships. That can add a layer of complexity, as you’ll need to be upfront with your connections about what you’re on the platform to find.
- While the online site and Facebook group have been around for years, the Nomad Soulmate app launched in early 2022. Based on user reviews there are still quite a few bugs and glitches to be worked out, and the UX isn’t as smooth and intuitive as other more established dating apps. (Actual user reviews are coming right up!)
- The digital nomad lifestyle is gaining momentum, but the Nomad Soulmate app just doesn’t attract anywhere near the same number of users as more popular dating apps. If you do decide to give it a try, pack your patience.
Our Nomad Soulmates Review Verdict:
The Nomad Soulmates community is well-established, and if you’re looking to connect with like-minded world travelers, this can be a great place to find them.
That being said, if you’re using it strictly as a dating app, the small user pool could make for a frustrating experience. We recommend using it in conjunction with a more popular dating app so you can match with locals as well.

How To Sign Up For Nomad Soulmates
To join the Nomad Soulmates Facebook group, simply hit Join and follow the application process.
For the Nomad Soulmates dating site, you have a few options. It does have a web version, but you’ll need to download the Nomad Soulmates app first. That’s because you login by scanning the QR code with your phone.
You can download Nomad Soulmates from the App Store or Google Play.
As the app advises when you get started, your profile is your application. It will need to be approved before you’re able to use the app, which generally takes place within 48 hours.
The first step is inputting basic information, like your first name, last name, and email. You’ll also create a password and agree to the T&Cs & privacy policy. Alternatively, you can sign in via Apple or Facebook as well.
Next, you’ll select your gender (male, female, or on the spectrum), and enter your birthday.
After that, you’ll start building your profile. Since this is a dating app for location-independent singles, it makes sense you’ll begin by sharing your travelstyle, values, and interests.
Adding interests is easy, just select a minimum of 7 from the list, or add custom ones. Then, select how frequently you travel, with your options being full-time, part-time, or 1-3 times per year.
Choose the term that you identify with, such as remote worker, van lifer, backpacker, etc, and specify if you live across the globe or have a homebase.
Other questions include whether or not you work while you travel, and your answers will help determine who the app shows you.
Next up is your intro, similar to the “About Me” bios on apps like Bumble and Tinder. At least 100 characters are required, so you can’t simply skip this step. The app also advises that users with a description receive up to 162% more matches.
Besides, if she’s on the fence about your photos, a good bio can mean the difference between a match or a pass. Not sure how to write an effective short dating profile? Check out these expert tips and proven examples!
When you’re done writing your bio and choosing your best profile photos, submit your application and wait for the review process to conclude.
If it gets approved, you can select your match criteria and preferences, then the search begins.
Nomad Soulmates works similarly to how other dating apps operate. After you match with someone, you can send a message (“Icebreaker”) to start a conversation.
Once you’ve matched with someone intriguing, you’ve got to keep the message exchange going long enough to move things off the app. And that’s work!
