Love And Matchmaking was co-founded by husband and wife team Destin Pfaff and Rachel Federoff. They have a combined experience of over 20 years in the dating industry, having assisted both singles and couples with navigating their love lives.  

Their own love story began in 2005 when they first connected online, but it took them some time to finally meet and forge a lasting friendship that eventually blossomed into romance. 

The couple got married in 2011, in New York City.  Shortly after tying the knot, they launched Love And Matchmaking.

As matchmakers, Pfaff and Federoff originally gained recognition via Bravo TV's hit series Millionaire Matchmaker. 

Pfaff’s entry into the dating industry was unexpected. Initially focusing on assisting small businesses with growth, he found himself collaborating with Patti Stranger, elite matchmaker and founder of Millionaire’s Club who would later become the star of the reality TV sensation "The Millionaire Matchmaker.” 

Working with Stanger ignited his passion for matchmaking.  

Federoff, on the other hand, has a background in psychology and considers herself a "people person.” As she explained in an interview, she was raised in a family that values helping, listening, and loving, so she naturally gravitated toward a career centered around helping others in their pursuit of happiness and love.

Love brings over a decade of experience, having previously worked with other matchmaking companies such as Alessandra Conti’s “Matchmakers in the City” before joining Love And Matchmaking in 2018. 

The company is headquartered in Santa Clarita, CA, but they offer services nationwide. While a national search is possible, their FAQ says they prefer to focus on looking for matches within a 2-hour radius of where you live and/or work.  

Federoff shared that their primary goal is to help everyone who genuinely desires to fall in love and build a stable relationship. She said they try to avoid turning anyone away because they thrive on the challenges. 

As she shared in an interview, 

We're kind of crazy because we really take on some challenging cases. The challenges flock to us, but they're the most satisfying to solve.

A Look At Their Matchmaking Process 

Keeping a ‘human element’ and staying involved in the search are important factors in their matchmaking process, according to Pfaff. In an interview with Dating News, he said, 

To do what we do, you have to have a strong foundation. We micromanage and overthink everything, but without our team behind us, we’d fail.

Potential clients start the process by filling out an online inquiry form. Next, you’ll complete a “My Love Profile Form” to provide some more information and context before the initial consultation. Once you’ve done that, their team will reach out to schedule a call  to see if you’re a good fit for their services. 

If you decide to sign the contract and become a client, the matchmaking process begins. Packages can be tailored to fit each client’s requirements, so your matches might come from their database, be the result of in-person recruiting, online recruiting, their network of professionals, social media, or targeted advertising.

However, finding a match isn't just about finding someone who checks all your boxes.

As Federoff explains,

Finding a match isn’t just about height, age, and location. We’re dealing with a million and one different factors.

The Love And Matchmaking team believes love can happen anywhere, and clients are encouraged to “be available for” love. As Pfaff and Federoff explained to Bustle, 

We encourage all of our clients to be open to love no matter where they are; Riding an elevator, taking a carpool Uber, going to jury duty, sitting in traffic, or simply being in line at a store can work if you know how to work it.

How Much Does Love And Matchmaking Cost?

Joining the “Lovebase” doesn’t cost anything, however as a free member you may never be matched with a paying client or even contacted by a matchmaker. 

To work directly with a matchmaker and have an active search conducted on your behalf, you’ll need to purchase a matchmaking package. Like many services, Pfaff and Federoff don’t disclose their pricing online.

VIDA Select has a similarly expansive reach, using tech to leverage the largest source of eligible singles there is. VIDA’s services begin at $1195 per month. Elite packages start at $1795 per month, with Premium packages starting at $2595. 

The cost of a package highly aligns with the number of hours that your matchmaker will dedicate to your search each month. VIDA clients on average begin a relationship with a match after just 3 months of service.

Exclusive Matchmaking, a service founded by Susan Trombetti, offers matchmaking in major cities around the US with packages ranging from $7,500 to $250,000. 

Patti Stanger, for whom Pfaff and Federoff used to work, charges a minimum of $45,000 for the entry-level Millionaire’s Club package. It costs $285,000 (plus expenses) to have Stanger herself as your personal matchmaker.
